  • Phosphoria

Went out on a rock hunt this morning , decided to take a hike up the old cattle drive trail we used to take the cattle up every summer ( that ended in 2000) I was looking for phosphoria a well used lithic in this part of wyoming found a good range of colors but nothing of size , that did make it less of a pain packing back down the trail to the truck. Hey Bret, That's some beautiful rock. It looks very glassy: Do you cook it?

Ron the red yellow and orange colored types can be worked without heat treating , the white and clear do need to be heated , you can heat the other but you don't need to go above 400 degrees .

Hey Bret, I did a lot of searching on the internet. I saw a ton of different colors and patterns. The most common color i saw was red.
