  • Jasper or something else?

    Found these and a few more chuncks of the same stuff in west central montana, I'm wondering if it would be considered jasper or some kind of chert?

          I'll look into that I haven't found it in any other spot yet and it's the first time I've seen it so it has me curious. I'm not sure if it's common to this area or not, the piece on the bottom left in the group has been worked across the top I'm thinking it is a preform.

        Nice pieces! I find similar rocks, they look alot like jasper but I don't think they are. Many have same colors and Mine have not been seen by experts. Rhyolite from Saugus mass has been called Jasper for 100 years
