Does anyone have any photos of what "limonite-cemented siltstone" artifacts, specifically spears, would look like? I'm wondering if I am understanding this term or not. A siltstone would be like a shale or argillite I think.
Thanks
That would be a sedimentary stone (compressed, hardened silt, finer than clay I think) with iron ore in it. A yellowish-grey stone likely. I just googled "limonite cemented siltstone" and there's a lot of info about it relating to artifacts.
The brown hints make me think of iron.
I've read about artifact made of limonite cemented siltstone here in NJ but I can't find a picture of one. I'm wondering if I've found flakes of it.
