  • chert quarry

Finally made it to a chert quarry I have heard about for years. Quarry and work site covers 50 or so acres. The entire hillside is pock marked with pits that were quarried hundreds /thousands of years ago. Found tons of waste flakes and a few bifaces. My brother found a nice Pelican Lake that I didnt get a photo of. In the picture, the middle band of trees on the ridge in the horizon is where all the quarry pits are, pretty much the entire ridge. Very interesting that it is pretty much the top of the Continental Divide. Will be back for sure, hopefully when the wind lets up, thought I was going to blow to Wyoming today!

    Good looking tool stone.
Does the chert or quarry have a name?
