What can you tell me about petrified wood as it applies to artifacts? It appears to me that this material was not easy to work. I got a couple hundred of these out of Lake Livingston in East Texas.

petrified wood is very hard to work, but has i have stated many times, east texas does not have a supply of flint or other material to use, peeble tools and pet wood are common here, IT IS ILLEGAL TO COLLECT ARTIFACTS FROM LAKES AND PUBLIC LANDS
These points were picked up on private land near Lake Livingston.
Doug I'm sorry you're having such a miserable time, Hope you're
feeling better soon.

I am from the piney woods area of north east Texas.. I found a lot of petrified wood artifacts while living there. My favorite are the knives.. They look unlike any i have seen from anywhere else. Happy Hunting!
I had an uncle who lived right on lake Livingston. I found several similar points when I was there a long time ago. I haven't been back,my uncle died shortly after my visit 25 years ago. Nice to see some of the same types and from the same area I enjoyed so much when I was little! Thanks!
