I have found dart points that have impact fractures and show signs of being burned. Seems to suggest that impact with bone inside the animal caused the damage.

this is my favorite impact fractured point. This point has an impact scar and was resharpened and then impacted again. This is one of the points that I wish could tell its story. For it to be resharpened I like to think it was retrieved from an extinct megafuana kill just to take more game. It is a neat piece of history to hold and ponder on.

Great example of a repaired impact, ...a paleo hunting event very similar to the Clovis point that was previously posted on this thread.

Several more impact examples from the Central Great Plains.

...and two more that had been repaired to use again.

This a find from several years back. It is a median ridged point that I always thought of as an agate basin type piece . Either way it is early and took a hard hit.

My Dalton with a broken tip. Probably from impact.

I've been wanting to post a few pics of some impact fractures and finally got around to going through my artifacts. I found this broken point about 25 years ago and put it into a site box. I've casually looked at it over the years, but until today I never saw or realized that it had been repurposed. Boy do I feel dumb! The fracture created a long flute down one side and the N/A chipped a few flakes along one side and across the broken tip and created a knife / small gouge. Geez.....What else have I missed?
