  • You wicked Bevel you!

Found this in my mail box today, I love early archaic Bevels and I just couldn't pass this guy up. Found in Robertson co Tn, made from Sonora I think. The Bevel and resharpening on this point is as cool as it gets, both barbs were anciently snapped off but still a cool piece! Figure I would share some pics with y'all, thanks for looking! Josh - that's gotta be some of the steepest beveling that I've ever seen. Wow. Nice point.

Hey Josh, That sure is a cool bevel. The pressure flaking and serrations are outstanding.

Thanks Ron, I was really fond of the workmanship on this one so I pulled the trigger. Its still sharp enough to really do some cutting and as close as you can get to exhausted without having a nub. Cool to see beveled knifes in different stages of resharpening I think.

That is a killer piece Josh. When I look at your first picture it throws of my perspective when looking at the rest of the pictures.
Are these so shallow that they don't show up other than in the first pic? Click image for larger version

Yep, they are shallow. The shadow washes them out in my other photos Bruce. Sometimes the maker wouldn't even touch that face of the blade opting to do all the resharpening on opposite sides only, thus the exaggerated bevel. Of course the original percussion flakes would still appear, but on this one the knapper slightly retouched that face with fine pressure flake to help make those serrations more pronounced I think, if that makes sense.

There's something about a nice beveled point that just makes me want to spend money!!!

Great looking knife or projectile point you picked up there?
