And Paleo for sure! While ending My Walk I glanced down and first thought that's a strange Rock/Material. Then thought wow a Tip? But could see It was broken and didn't bother to get In-Situ (bringing Camera in Field) shot. Cleaned It up, and It's "QuartziteISH" Grey/Green white (transparent) on edges. Ground (see straight line/edge) a bit past what look's much like two Flute's. In The Sun It has a green look especially The "Vein's".
Thanks for looking.

Do You find Rhyolite? Red purple/Brownish?
-
Down here the stuff I find like that comes from some of the local formations. St. Peters sandstone formation has some good quartzite and the Everton has some decent crystal veins also. Both of those formations and one or two others outcrop near the sites I hunt. Sometime in the next few weeks I'll try to get some pics of the quartzite veins in this area as well as some of the formations in this area.

I find all kinds of different lithics. Yeah there is definitely some Rhyolite down here. The Mississippi valley was basically formed bc the area passed over a hydrothermal vent very quickly, causing it to balloon and then flatten as it moved off of the vent. That's basically the event that seperated the sw end of the Appalachian mountains from the Ozarks and the Boston and Ouachita mtns in Arkansas, and the smaller ranges in NE Texas. This was millions of years ago, of course, but it did make for some volcanic eruptions that created the igneous and metamorphic rock in this area.
