  • Lets see some site frames!!

Well its raining again and they cut the cotton in this field where I find this beautiful flint most of it Skunk Flint. Its a special place due to this type of flint isnt found in my area but has a streamline of it 40 miles away that travels around 100 miles all the way to the mountains of Jasper GA. Im lucky to of found this spot due to the closest water is at least .25 mile away. Might of been water close by a few 1000 yrs ago but isnt any now. One of the rules on the property is I cant look if its wet and its soaked rite now. Roads are muddy and they dont want me getting stuck. Im hoping some of the frost and cold weather will clear some grass by the time I get out there. I have been looking on this spot for 4 years now and dont find a lot of them but when I do its a breath taking experience for me. Hope you enjoy and lets see yours. Click image for larger version

I always called the black and white ridge and valley chert. The blue is probably coastal plane . I am no expert by any means

I have only one single site frame. These are from Western North Carolina. Some Ridge and Valley/Knox chert but mostly quartzite. It's a multi component site mostly woodland but some earlier and later cultures. Pouring rain here so hard to get good lighting sorry for the poor pic. Click image for larger version

That's it for site frames? Always enjoy seeing what comes from a single location. It is amazing how long some sites had been occupied.

Makes you wonder where everybody is at sometimes. I like the home sites like these on the web but I guess others are moving on to the mall style of forums like FB. Ive never been on that other site.

So is all of the flint I find that is colorful Ridge and Valley? Ive always thought it was traded in but I could be wrong. In my pics the bluish with the tan bulls eye on it I figured that material was from TN? Hey Hoss doing a edit on this. Im trying to learn something is the reason I ask. I know sometimes the net can be a dull sounding thing.
