Yeah, looks like you got a spot for pottery. You'll fill a frame eventually if it keeps turning up. New England acidic soils tend to eat pottery, so it's great if you got a place with good conditions.

I bet you’re fingers were burning being only 8 degrees. I’ve hunted one time when it was 5 degrees and couldn’t stay long. I wear gloves now.

Lucky day in a deep plowed field a few years back, started a pass down along a ravine edge and found the pt and the adze about a foot apart, followed back up along my tracks about 4 feet away from tracks going down and the celt was laying as is 4 foot from where adze was. Probably should have asked permission to do a bit of sifting..

Almost has a plummet look to it. Nice one. I wonder if they heated hard stone to work it?

When I saw this pt in the ground I knew it was going to be broken.. Onondaga Ashtabula never thought I would find a big one intact. As far as Ashtabulas go it’s probably not a giant, but for my neck of the woods I’m generally lucky to find a pt over 2”.

True that the average points here are 1-2 inches or even smaller I’ve found them to .5 of a inch

    • #58
Thin pentagonal point I found down the road from my house after mowing the yard one evening. I think it’s a raccoon notch, sometimes called jacks reef pt, but I think they are generally larger then the raccoon notched.. likely a true arrow point. I have found a few triangle points on the same field over the years.

Nice points and insutus shots. There's nothing like walking up on a point laying there. Rare for me. My avatar is an insutu back in June

My best field is a late woodland but I can only walk there 3 months out of the year now. They haven’t turned it for almost 5 years now I’m hoping this is the year they do. Most of my finds have come from there. Post as many as you like it doesn’t matter to me I just like seeing them

It came from the field I found my turkey tail in just a different spot. So far there is 2 campsites in that field. One Adena and one archaic. Every time the disc it the other site will appear and the other goes away
