  • I think I found a nice mano and metate. What's your thoughts

Hi I'm really hoping this is what I think it really must be. I found them about 20-20 ft from each other next to water.
the "metate" seems to have riffles in one end to maybe assist in the grinding of material? Also the opposite end is concaved in a way that it actually fits really decently in your knee if you are crouched already on the ground.
Let me know your thoughts!? Thank you!!
Oh and I doubt they go together the mano seems too big

It's definitely an interesting thing. If I came across it I would pause and wonder.

I think it's natural because angle were the side meets the bottom seems too abrupt to be worn or ground and the 'pecking' looks sort of crinkled in a way that's different from stuff I've seen in photos.
My hunch is that it was formed by rock cooling in some kind of mold.

Of course I may be completely wrong - which would be wonderful.

Don't think that is a metate it would be smoooooth with no ripples. The other stone may be a mano, may be a water worn rock, hard to tell. But keep on looking, artifacts are out there and it's obvious you have the fever!
