  • I love tools

I went through some of my non frame pieces today. I really like the tools and scrapers from my area I find. I will share some of mine and would like to see some of yours. I just don't think we share these often enough. Mine are personal finds by me, enjoy N GA. Click image for larger version

Nice tool collection. I've said it on here before but I like a big chunky tool as much as a point. I think I've acquired a taste for them because my two sites get picked over, all I'm left with are the tools that others missed because they aren't as obvious or the snobby hunters pass them over (site bias). I'll have to dig some of mine up and post them. Not nearly as many as you have.

This is the only tool I've ever found. Upon closer examination, I can barely see flaking on the curved edge, so it was a flake blade at one time. It's so worn down, I can't even photograph it. Carter Cave chert, Carter County Kentucky.

Nice, if a person wants to help put the story together then the tools need to be included. They were daily use items and very important to the NA people !

          Super nice collection, SH.

You've got a bit of everything there and some really good examples.

Love the variety of lithics too.

Interesting to see how tools from the east are so similar to those from the west.

I think your collection reflects a wide span of historical time, am I wrong?

What cultural associations can you make for them?

Yes this tool type is thought to be used for making existing holes larger.

            Nice pieces, Benji.

I've always meant to ask what kind of flint is your stuff made of?

Like me, you seem to be in an area where a single material is dominant.

I find black obsidian and you find this butterscotch colored flint.

            Wonderful stuff , btw.

A very old basalt lithics tool group recovered just before our first snow. I'm thinking early archaic at least...
Dished handsize matate and some knives and a graver.
