  • Today's Finds 4-11-21

I went one day this past week to my favorite spot and for the first time ever, I got skunked. I was distraught, lol. Decided to leave that spot alone for a while. It's my honey hole but I wanted to check a totally different area. Glad I found this new spot. Lots of Morrow Mountains. I'll get the heartbreaker out of the way first. Either a Taylor or Rowan.

One more piece... In SC, we have round or circular unifacial scrapers. I believe this piece to be one or maybe it's a turtle back scraper.

Dang Josie, you killed it. How’d you carry all those home?
that’s like a months worth for me. Up here we call those roundish scrapers humpbacks, I’ve only found a few.
I’m not convinced that was used as a drill, the tip looks so fragile. Although a know squat about s.c. Artifacts.
great finds... keep on the hunt.....👍

I was afraid of that. Just let it be a drill for tonight. It can be something else tomorrow, lol.

Well now I see you made a new post for your finds. Nice big MM knife or drill and I always enjoy them Turtleback scrapers. As I typed that auto correct tried to change it to Turtleneck lol. So many finds you must of brought a 5 gal bucket or 2 with you

Auto correct did the same to me. It's so aggravating sometimes. I collected those pieces and put them in a spot and used a piece of slate and hammered a stick in the ground so I could find them when I went back. Made my own hammerstone, lol

Nice haul, I know that red clay/dirt makes sore feet but that's a small price to pay. Might as well call that the Morrow Mountain site 👍

Wow Quartz Queen! Congrats on these two spots ya got. nice points and scraper....and that lone pic of the drill the right lower edge is really squared off...if ya tilt the pic 45 degrees it looks like the base of a huge something to me...I know it probly isn't though...just saying....keep kicking that clay Josie!

Morrow Mountains are so different from other finds. Sometimes I turn them the wrong way and the stem becomes much wider than the base. That's how I know I'm holding it wrong. They are ground so makes me think I've found something older but it's not. Lol. I hope that's what you're talking about.

3rd new spot. I think I have an easier time finding in the clay. It's a much smaller area so it should be fun!

I forget which type MM those are, 1 or 2...but they are definitely great type examples! That perfect one is crazy cool! That's the kind of site that would keep me up at night during a thunderstorm thinking about what could be uncovered!

Holy moly, Josie. What a haul. There's that beautiful 'drill' (?) which is looks even better after a bath. So many other quality Morrows too. Love that round scraper. BTW, I think you are going to be spending a lot of time in that field.
