  • Kirks Corner Notch

Found a couple days ago in a washed out trench on a buddy’s land. Didn’t see a deer but this made my day. I’ve been on this property many times over the years but never looked for these flat rocks til this year. It was just exposed in a hole in a four wheel trail. This definitely wouldn’t have been whole long and its the most perfect point in my collection. I’m so thankful I found it before it was broken. It’s unbelievably thin. If not for constant water running across this area it would probably have remained buried forever.
Its perfect. Not a break. Just worn from water and movement of earth.

I had to talk “real quiet now,” but still no deer. I’ll take the point!

I don’t think it would have lasted another month where it was unearthed. Feeling blessed on this deal for sure. Thank you.

Nice point. As smooth as the surface appears in your photo it kinda looks like it had been lying in a creek bed. Perhaps that is because of the type of lithic. What kind of stone is it made from?

I think its rhyolite. And this area is often flowing with water heavily following wet periods. The spot it was in is potholed and holds water for days after rains.
