Thanks for the extra adjectives Greg, I like yours better
Evidently there's still ongoing debate about tribal sovereignty, and how eagles are distributed for NA religious/ritual purposes.
It's my opinion that sometimes the Feds just need to get out of the way!!
For many Americans, a mere rendering of an eagle can prompt patriotism. But for thousands of Native American tribal members, only an actual eagle can serve as an irreplaceable sacred connection to an ancient spiritual realm. Several tribal customs can survive only with real eagle feathers, talons, and parts: natural religious resources that are in high demand and burdened by an unsustainable governmental system. Kathryn Kovacs, an assistant professor at Rutgers Law–Camden, where she teaches a course on natural resources law, has not only researched the legal and religious implications of this uniquely American problem, but has proposed a solution for the federal government that involves returning authority to tribal governments.

            Hey Josh,
I believe that it was injured so badly that it had to be euthanized - they weren't sure if she hit the fence or train. Raptors can be so focused on their prey sometimes that they become blind to everything else. I see a fair number of owls that have been beaned by cars as they swooped down to grab a rodent running across the road. A number of years ago I was standing quietly in my chicken pen (having just fed them), when a small hawk slams into the wire at FULL force, just two feet from my head (literally). It was so intent on hitting a chicken that it didn't see me or the chicken wire - it was a genuine WTF Kodak moment as I turned my head to look at it, and the bird came around enough to free itself. The look on it's face: priceless
