Bruce Bourque is the Curator of Archaeology at the Maine State Museum and a leading authority on that state's "Red Paint People", whom Bourque calls the world's earliest hunter-gatherer swordfish hunting culture. Their artifacts, such as ground slate implements, and cemetery complexes, distinguish them from groups to the west and south. In this 3 minute Vimeo clip, Bourque discusses his new book, "The Swordfish Hunters. The History and Ecology of an Ancient American Sea People"(2012), providing a glimpse into the Red Paint People.
