  • Safety Harbor Museum 3

    This section will be about some of the stone pieces ( many of the better examples were stolen years ago ), Pic1,the Safety Harbor Site ( Tocobagga ) intro.....Pic, 2 diorama , of interest is the platform mound.....Pic.3 is a photo of the top of the platform mound at the village of tocabaga ...the structure that was here when the first Spaniards arrived was described in the journals.it obviously was rectangular.....Pic.4 are small top grooved pieces.., top center three are limestone ...left is a pottery one...R.is a traded from the north pebble...bott are shell..The pit and test holes were down to limerock.....Pic.5-6-7, are points....Pic.8 is interesting, as I said, the best points were stolen ( as often happens to museums ) , there was a complete Suwannee point among them...2nd.from left is the base of another one...points on right are miss labeled, they are Safety Harbor points.

      Excellent photos and explanations as always Hal. As a victim of artifact theft I know it's upsetting. I literally despise thieves. Anyways.... thanks for sharing all the Safety Harbor photos.

          Love the great white tooth. That means a Native America had to walk the beach, head down, looking back and forth ( sound familiar?) If they wanted to find one.
