  • Some Petroglyphs

I recently found a few pictures of a place that we visited quite some time ago. Info from the pictures shows 2002 but it seems longer ago than that. They are of a place called dry canyon out of Vernal Utah. Most of it is private property but the owner allowed people to view the petroglyphs. He actually had a small shed that had refreshments with nothing but a donation bowl with a sign to pay on the honor system. His driveway and yard around the house was lined with Metates that he had gathered there. There were signs to be aware of Rattlesnakes so that pretty much stopped my wife from going with me as she has a phobia about snakes. She can't stand to even see them on tv so we decided I would video the petroglyphs for her, so I didn't get many actual pictures but figured maybe somebody else would like to see what I do have. I don't even know what happened to the video as it was on VHS and probably only watched a couple of times. You could walk for miles in the canyon and see different panels and I probably only seen a portion of what is there. Click image for larger version

These pictures are of a panel that the owner said the people from National Geographic that had been there to do a article about them had dubbed it the Kings Panel because of what was depicted there. The first picture shows how high up the panel is and the others are what I could get without trying to climb up to them. Hopefully you can enlarge the pictures enough to see some detail. Those are beautiful ones, that’s quite a breastplate lookin thing and looks like rivets or buttons around the upper body.

Nice show there RS. Did you happen to see any Bulls Eyes on that rock face? There is a reason for my question. Kim

I'm wondering how they got up high enough to draw the pictures with such detail and no mistakes 🤔

At many pueblos they found ladders. So I would they used them here. Kim
