A photo came up just as I finished my last post. It is so out of focus that there is nothing I can say about it.

Yeah the photo quality is just not good enough to say anything with certainty.

It looks like a rock to me Tam, I don't even think its pottery. 100% sure there are no intentional faces.

You know Josh , now that I am looking for the tell
tale signs of chared insides well it almost look
like its porous, like volcanic which no that's not it Maybe it was some type of weird cooling process in the earth and there are bubbles . Kind of a strange rim on the back with more bubbles .
lets not over think this I think you are right maybe a very unusual rock for the area . Sending a pic of the back . Boy do I have a pot of rocks this year or what

Just as a note, all fired pottery does not have "black" on it...
I cant tell enough from the photos to make a good guess, but I have seen pottery that has what is called "stippling" where a stick is used to mark the clay while it is soft, before firing. I have seen some marked with what I believe was a piece of small cane, hollow on the inside like a drinking straw, and making a really cool pattern.
Wandering wherever I can, mostly in Eastern Arkansas, always looking down.

I use to make pottery , throw them and hand style ropeing . I found a big area of red clay down the road and I am seriously thinking of getting some and making some things . Fire them old style in a fire . I saw a guy on utube do it .
Look for that oh boy lol
