  • Hopewell pottery question

Does anyone have any pics of personal finds of Hopewell
    pottery . Even a shard ...
Trying to learn beyond my own area of the Swiftcreek NA and look at what the tempering looks like with shells .
Yes I have watched countless videos on the culture but a
up close and personal find will bring ...I want to say enthusiasm
    to my research .

Sherd boom. Remember glass shards. Potsherds.

Tom , that’s exactly what I was looking for !!!
Yippe, no but seriously I was reading about the shell tempering and have never seen it ... thank you .
That Swiftcreek is so different .
Some of the more elaborate shards I have found have fools
gold pyrite in them .. very sparkly .
Going to pan for some gold this year in the stream .
Georgia was the first gold rush . 1829 in present day
    Lumpkin county .
Wouldnt that be a gas ?

We have been saying for YEARS that we want to go up there in spring or autumn to pan for gold and find emeralds, rubies. You know the place!
I have a few tiny pieces of gold that I panned when I went to school up that-a-way.

Diagonal chord marked also shell tempered. Both are local creek finds. The black piece is better quality and was probably ceremonial with the grey one being cruder every day ware.

Wandering wherever I can, mostly in Eastern Arkansas, always looking down.
