  • Pottery Fragments - Eastern New Mexico

Found near the Pecos River in De Baca County, Eastern New Mexico. Probably Apache. I only found one piece that had red paint on it. Click image for larger version

That southwestern stuff is what dreams are made of. I love Anasazi Pottery.

Anasazi. Reminds me of Chaco Canyon, Bandalier National Monument and Mesa Verde. Haven’t visited Chaco or Bandalier in many years and I’ve never seen Mesa Verde.

Tam, I seem to have lost my earlier comment to you. I’m not so tech savvy here! Anyway, I loved that sherd you posted back in May. It really does resemble a Hebrew menorah. I read quite a bit on arrowheads.com but I think last night was the first time I’d read on the pottery forum and I saw that beautiful piece!

Yeah I am on a quest for a whole one . Pottery is my thing and I use to throw it to old school coil . I’ll have to look up that menorah . I grew up with many Jewish friends . Tell me this spall/ tool maybe graver doesn’t look like a dradle (sp)

Here is hoping you find that whole one,Tam! I must confess I had to look up “dreidel” just now! So yeah, now I see the resemblance to a four-sided spinning top. Heard the sweet song too when I googled it!
