It's quite soft (about the hardness of dry clay). Does anyone have any information on how Ochre was prepared by Archaic tribes?

It has been used as paint for thousands of years. It was crushed and mixed with water or animal fat (Oil) to paint everything, including their bodies. A Redman. Also interned with burials.... JJ
