  • Pottery question ?

is this a piece of Native American pottery or modern ? The sherd is very different from the plain ware that I normally find .

The last photo shows the normal plain ware found in this area .

The stirations on the edge in the first photo straight and even spaced . When you mix clay and coil or flatten it you don’t get that kind of pattern either before or after firing. I think.,,

Good man from Florida might be onto something. I wouldn't have really looked that closely, and assumed it was pottery, but I don't know. Is the grit/texture the same as your normal plainware?
          Hong Kong, but from Indiana/Florida

I always check the color of the clay . Mostly red in my area . But I do find the gray . Went to a creek source to make sure we do have that color and yes right there in the creek .
I have said this before put it up to the sun for shell or sand reflections .
Modern clay and porcelain would not have that .
Plant remnants for older pieces I have read but never found.
