Sooo..I think this will be the last of restoration, each step can pose more challenges, if you’re doing any project like this and want help, email me.....Firstly, this is a Weeden Island punctuated red vessel it is 13” high and is decorated around the top with crested woodpeckers (a southern death cult design ) and a panel with variations of wading birds....It was found in pinellas co. Florida in 1972 with the landowners permission, I will be doing a complete report on the site and the artifacts that Peninsula Archeology recovered, nuff for now...As this vessel was found scattered over a sixty foot area, the pieces are different colors ( the ultimate challenge ) long intro...So you will be using methods previously described, which brings us to matching patina ( color variations, scratch and gouge marks, frosting, etc.),oops.i forgot, this project has a design, so I made a pattern cuss large sections were missing, transfer it, I just hold it with one finger and keep lifting...Next, final drawing and inscribing ( use whatever tools you need to replicate, (areas that get designs should not be hardened with D and A,... Pic 1 is pattern ....Pic.2, blue is a original piece with surrounding plaster, this is a closeup and everything shows, however nobody needs to be this precise for a quality showpiece...Pic.3 blue is plaster, areas and show color variations resulting from scattering...Pic4, is finished...Pic5 is extreme closeup with white water color to bring out design...Pic.6 is a glamour shot ( lol.) using a regular light bulb...and a couple of before, photos of photos,pics7-8, which shouda been first...I know I missed a lot but got the most, thanks for lookin.

It is odd Hal, of how different pieces of the same material patina differently. People would think that two pieces of the same blade for instance, would have the same color of the patina. I didn’t know this about pottery , so I’ve learned something today , TY. Great job Sir !
