This SCC piece was found in Pinellas county in 72 ...Description:, A highly decorated incised, linear punctuated and embellished piece with rim nodes....it has good color, nice fire clouds and crisp designs..Present are spirals, triangles, and circles, which are SCC motifs...Pic4, the circle I highlighted strikes me as different and it could be a coincidence but it has the appearance of the open eye, which is not usually represented as a circle, so it just may be the sun circle, which is another SCC motif,... Either way it represents one or the other..I wouldn’t think I have to mention this but all my posts are my opinions, and I’m learning through posting every day ..Thank y’all for givin it the 👀.

A lot to think about there. I like the little nodules around the rim. Extra little touch.

I wonder if they served a purpose, like if you tided cordage around the top lip to carry it, would the nodes keep the rope from slipping off the top? Just thinking out loud.

These W.I. Vessels were not for secular use... I believe designs were carefully applied with a spiritual meaning in mind.
Working...
