  • Post Tide/Storm Shells and Stuff

    A few shell artifacts after big high tides and wind/storm. 2 netweights. The larger one (rarer..) is a Cut-Ribbed Ark, Anadara secticostata. The smaller one is the most common Ponderous Ark, Noetia ponderosa. The (Busycon) columnella was found high and dry it was not rolled around in the water. I think these were used as "pins...       Shell bead drilled one side. Pic doesn't show well the nibbling that had to be done to get it round. A lot of beads are square, too.

        I have two lovely things, maybe pendants, but holes in shell always been area least confidence. But been studying clios, and now may ask you inpm.

        Think about how much coastline North America alone. I’m silly, but truly rather live on, at, near source abundant food (brain food), transportation, appliances and hardware, salt showers for sweaty skin, jewelry, musical instruments, equisite dinnerware including cutlery, service utensils……Yep, only tsunami from comet hitting barrier islands around 500 AD cause departure from such a home.

      Nice finds, Tom. I finally made it out to the beach yesterday after several storms & tide cycles. Found lots of sea glass but nothing else.
