  • A special Weeden island Vessel from Florida.

So I took this to the holiday show.. first time anyone has seen it in person since 73. It’s 14 “high, has a square bottom, a round top and averages 1/4” thin..The main motif depicts the flying serpent, secondary is of the woodpecker, Mississippian cult figures...It’s possibly the nicest vessel of its kind to ever come out of Florida...

To think I get excited about finding a flake. That's on a level I wouldn't even know. Great work on preserving it.

People use the phrase museum quality too frequently. That is legitimately display worthy at any historical museum.

Just love the pattern . Glad you posted this because Hal some of the larger pieces I find it’s only 1/4 in thick or less . I can’t imagine the utilitarian use of this . Seems it would break . I always scratch my head when I find one .

Secular..These vessels are amazingly strong ..They were made by a select group of potters and traded to satellite villages up and down the coast and inland for religious rituals ..Hope you find more than just a few shreds one day Tammy. Thanks for your comment..🤗🇺🇸.
