  • theres gold in them thar parking lots

a couple weeks back i was delivering at a lumber yard in south western minnesota in a little town
when i say little i mean little
the biggest building in this town is the lumber yard

    so any how
i get there and get the trailer curtains opened up,the straps off of the items that are to be deliverd to this business
i am waiting for the yard guy to come and unload me with the fork lift

as i am waiting i do what i always do
i walk around looking at rocks
as a flint knapper its just something i (we) do

well i spot this one piece if quartz laying amongst all of the crushed granite and sioux quartzite that the lot is covered with
so i pick up the piece of quartz and rub the dirt off on my jeans
then i start to look it over
and to my surprise this piece of quartz has a small piece of gold in it
i just couldnt fricken believe my eyes,i found gold
but could it really be gold,or is it just fools gold

so i grab my pocket knife and take the tip of the blade and press lightly on it
it is quit maliable,so i figure it has to be real gold

    WOOO HOOOO
i actually found some gold, first in my life
and i wasnt even looking for it

so does this make me a prospector ?

well heres a pic of it
sorry but my photo skills kind of suck

Hey Tim, You're one up: I never found any gold. I spent some time at an abandoned copper mine. I found a piece that had quartz, copper, and two little pieces of silver.

Western Minn???? Where there is one trace there may be more...

Well as a wise man once said........gold is where you find it!!!!

I find jewelry but no raw stuff in matrix.
Now days though I find more in the Wall Mart parking lot than at the end of a metal detector.
It is a "Rock" when it's on the ground.
It is a "Specimen" when picked up and taken home.

ID:	182958Sample photos of gold I've found. I am a gold panner, and the gold I find is a gold color. My screen shows yours as more of a silver color, even though the tablecloth is bright yellow. How about a better photo?
