  • Quartz hexagonal prisms. Plenty of them.

I know quartz is one of the most common minerals but I don't know how common these are. In the same arrowhead seach area in Granville County NC are plenty of these hexagonal quartz pieces. They range in sizes from under 1/2 inch across to over 2 inches. While most are rather rough and a little cloudy on the outside, some are nearly clear as glass.

Hey Mike, You have a nice collection of quartz crystals. Do you find these on Native American sites or just in the same general area?

Just the same general area. In various fields when looking for arrowheads.

          Hello Mike,

That is so cool. I live and collect in North Carolina but don't find any in the SE part of the State.

Those are very nice crystals Have you ever tried looking at them with a back light? Out here we find some small ones in the lake and I hear some glow. I have not found a glowing one yet but hope to.
