    One found many years ago. Not sure about the outer crystalline look. But it was one of those rocks you just pick up.

    Hi Chase

    I re-inserted your picture here too.

    That's a type of concretion often found in sandy desert environments, formed when mineral-rich water is concentrated by evaporation... in a shallow salt basin for example. It's a mixture of sand with planar crystalline gypsum or baryte (or often both) colloquially known as a "desert rose".

      Chase, don't blame you! I would have picked that one up in a heartbeat!! Where did you find it? I've never seen anything like that.

          Wow those are cool...I would have grabbed em also. I have a whole bunch of rocks that I picked up just based on the neat look. Hey, being the season they kinda remind me of some of those once a year Christmas treats the Aunts/Grandmas would make...nice rocks dude...
