  • quartz crystal?

Found this in a creek a couple of days ago and I have never seen nothing else like it around my area. Found in western nc. Quartz crystal is only thing that comes to my mind because of the blocky octagon looking side. It is translucent but slightly milky on the least patina end and looks like it would be knappable. Any ideas?

Chalcedony, that would be interesting. Would you guys know how common it is in the blue ridge mountains? I walked more of the creek but didnt find any more. Could it have been a trade item?

Ok I did a little looking around and chalcedony is found in my area. More so to the east around Franklin and Asheville. I think I have a few points made from it too! Now I know to keep my eyes peeled for this stuff when im out on adventures. Click image for larger version
