  • A little help with specific identification

    I was told by a couple folks that these items are orehistiric agatized fossilized coral. I found it on our property about a mile from the Suwannee river. It was all whole and solid with the exception of a few pieces, but curiosity got the best of me and I halved a few pieces with a masonry cutting disk on my angle grinder. Anyone have more info about these

      Dirty I am hoping Tom gets on . He is all over that place and can tell you even what fossils are in that coral .

        @38-25 Million years old, Oligocene-Miocene, Hawthorn Group Suwannee limestone. Unsure of species. it's "Chalcedony Pseudomorph After Coral" lol.

        Wow!! Thank you Tom. Sorry, I'm just replying. I've, been soo busy I haven't been online much... What amazing info. My kids are going bananas over the fact that we have 50 million yr old fossils in our possession. I've found about 15 pieces since this post. Most as big as a cantaloupe. Just beautiful stuff. Thx again Tom
