A pretty cool discovery, used as a doorstop on a farm for 30 years. Not too surprisingly, meteorites being used as doorstops is not as rare as one might expect. This was seen to fall, but, in the plains states, several have been not seen to fall, but plowed up on farms and wind up being put to this purpose, before their eventual recognition as space rocks. The farmer mentions it was still warm the day after being seen to fall. I find such a claim dubious, as they are cold soaked in the absolute zero of space for millions of years before falling, and only their surface is briefly heated and melted before hitting ground. Well, I'll put it this way. To collectors, claims that meteorites are still warm is like flint thunderbirds to artifact collectors. But, heck, I wasn't there, and this is awesome...
