  • Hartville uplift ,wyoming lithic

Was up in the mountains a few days ago checking our reservoir then went looking for knapping material and hartville is some good rock comes in a lot of colors from pale yellow to a deep wine color but the best in my opinion is the orange with dendrites one nice thing about this material is you don't need to heat treat it. You find this rock on the west side of the Bighorn mountains at 8000 to 9000 ASL. Click image for larger version

Nice Material I like it as well it makes great looking artifacts I am sure you also have worked with Spanish diggings quartzite. there are a few quarries here in Colorado that produce quality lithics.
Look to the ground for it holds the past!
