  • Interesting Rock

I found this stone sticking out of a creek bank in south central Illinois. It appears to have grooves worn in one side. I assume these were made by glacial movement. It’s been a long time since a glacier came that far south in Illinois. Appears to be a red quartzite?

Looks natural to me lines are just to perfect I don’t think it’s an abrader. I’ve never found one before but from what I’ve seen it doesn’t look like it

Charles I have a rock that I found in a field last year that is very similar material and similar marks. If I find it can I post it here for comparison ?

My rock has a flat surface with grooves worn into it. I’ve seen large stones in Quebec that have the same lines worn into them by glaciers.
