    I am by no means a Geologist but it looks like the sedimentary rock shown in my rocks and fossils book. The layers may have been put down over years with different seasons putting down different layers of sediment

      Maybe I understand. The rock was stationery, and every season another layer of sediment was added?

        That's right Chandler, but it was probably part of a plane, like a flood plain. Similar to shale. over millions of years this plane eroded. What you found is part of what is left. Very attractive rock. Kim

          Cool rock, It looks like the thin layers have over time leached out into the bed rock. The even spacing makes one think it was a annual event rather than thousands of years.
