  • Iowa Find/Possibly Orbicular Jasper??

    Hello,

I'm not sure if this is orbicular jasper, but, whatever it is, I like it. Found in a creek in Eastern Iowa. It's probably about 3" long by a few inches wide. It's also highly magnetic on one side in particular. I showed a state geologist and he thought he knew what it was and what formation is came out of...I don't remember what he said though.

There can be if you have access to good places. I'll post a lake superior cabochon made by a master gem/silver smith given to me years ago. It was found in dredging pool tailings 'up here' from what I remember him saying.

Thanks, Hal Gorges. I think so too. I'm thinking of slicing and tumbling it.
Working...
