  • Help identifying this interesting artifact

I found this artifact on land that belongs to my husband's grandparents in the Mojave Desert near Cantil, CA. I think it is so interesting. Can anyone tell me what it was used for?

I think you have a rock. Doesn't really resemble an artifact. Keep on looking!

      as a whole , I think is a rock, ( not a tool )
but the 3rd pic on the right hand side looks to be ground on ????
it might be my eyes playing tricks on me , not sure

I think it may have been used as a footing for a pole.
It does not truly resemble a tool or true artifact but
        we have been wrong before.
For it to have been used as footing for a pole is my best guess,
and believe me it is a guess.
Otherwise it appears to be a stone with some natural geometric cleavage.

It is a "Rock" when it's on the ground.
It is a "Specimen" when picked up and taken home.

That's the first thing I thought. Dried cement that was poured into a post hole for support of a post.

Thank you.  I didn't think of dried cement.

G10 yes it seems like it has been ground on the far side.  It is very worn.  It also seems to have the perfect finger indentations to hold it. But this could just be coincidence. I took a few more pictures of the worn side and the back of it.

If a footing for a post, it would be inverted, have a depression.
My opinion, just a rock, cool one though.
