    I had a good friend who knows a thing or two about artifacts look at this. He thought it was natural, but suggested I post here for second opinions.

    Your friend is correct. its natural, not altered by man.
    Look to the ground for it holds the past!

I call guilty by association.They show no work by man but are unique because of where i found them.In other words they dont fit in with the rest of the rock found from a particular site.Most sites ive come across eventually yield some questionable examples.

        Eastern Iowa, creek find. It was unique in that it didn't really "fit" for where it was found, which was part of the reason why I picked it up, in addition to the shape. But I don't recall that I or anyone else ever found other artifacts associated with that area, so in the end I agree that it is natural.
        Thanks for your input, and I'll keep the "guilty by association" category in mind for future finds!
