  • What in the world ?

This whatchamacallit weighs 1 lb. 3 oz. I brought it home because I have never seen a rock like this. Looking up close where these 2 are joined looks as if the smaller, lighter parts edging may have been pressed/squished onto the bigger piece (by human fingers, like molding or sculpting.)
My imagination may be running wild...but I hope it isnt asking much to help me identify whatever it might be.
    Thanks much! :dunno:

Bobbie, I am sorry but this not man made. This is natural. This is another form of a concretion. looks like the base is a sandstone/shale with mud/limestone top. I am not a geologist so I could be wrong on the sediment rocks but I am not as far as it being natural.
    Neat rock thou!
Look to the ground for it holds the past!

Definitely natural I'm afraid but not a concretion. It's a couple of bedding planes from travertine limestone with different hardness/resistance to weathering.
PS: welcome to the forum Bobbie
