  • Maybe you can help me ID?

I found this artifact in the Hill Country of Texas, near Llano, yesterday.

The right (upper) side is flat, there is a groove coming out of the hole towards the right (upper) side where it looks as if something, such as a fastener has worn it down a little.
The left (lower) side looks as if it was sharpened.
    Thanks for any help,
    Newbie

    Hi Newbie,
That appears to be a piece of sandstone that has a hole and groove eroded into it. I suppose that it may possibly been used as a net weight or something simple, but it is basically a natural rock.
Put it in the interesting rockpile and keep on looking!

What about the nook at the bottom?

It looks like there was one another hole in that slab, thousands of years ago. Since then it has eroded away and it would probably have been gone one day in the environment.
