I know Im Johnny ComeLately to this thread...but, WanderinRock, Most of these guys have seen dozens, hundreds, and with some, even OWN/collected thousands of authentic, WORKED American Indian artifacts. Look at the profiles of the people you think are raining on your parade. If these guys are telling you something, especially the guys with alot of "shiny stars" around their name and have extensive collections in tthier pic album, I would consider their input as they have spent ALOT of time in pursuing REAL artifacts. It is a cool rock...When I first saw it, I swear to God, the right side looks like a stoic indian caricature/effigy (Geofact, natural formation) and was suprised that you were serious about it being a "thimble"?! I thought this was goin to be a thread on a effigy or something! You have a rock there, buddy. I picked up lots of rocks, seen lots of rocks, and on occasion keep some cool geofacts, rocks. I keep all WORKED rocks as these are the prize. Yours has no sign, whatsoever, of a tool mark, one. Dont be discouraged, keep up the hunt.-Cen,KS Kenny

Thank you David. We have had the "thing" sitting in the garden for about 50 ysers and most people just walk by it and never notice the carving. It is ugly but does have the sun rays "carved" around the eyes common to Columbia River carvings. Thanks guys for some fun here. And again you have a super year ahead.

The answer to your direct question- AGAIN- Read this really slowly, James Powers- it is a R-O-C-K altered by Mother Nature and not by man. But you can call it the Mona Lisa if you like, it's all yours.
Wildhorse- of course there are effigies, there have been thousands found, and they always show work by man. However not all rocks that somehow sort of resemble something were worked by man.

All those shiny stars and that stuff around your avatar...You know, when I look at your picture and squint I see an...
...what kind of looks like a shrine you've put around yourself.  You must think pretty highly of yourself.  Are you really smarter than the rest of us?  Don't get me wrong, I'm sure you know a lot, but even your mighty intellect must have it's limits.
If and when I post a thread on effigies it will be on my terms. I suppose you'll have something rude to say then too, the world is full of angry people.  What can you do?
It seems to me that you are far more interested in making this personal, and though I'll admit it's tempting, and I do apologize for my part in that, that's not what I'm here for.  Responding to you at this point is pointless.  Even with all your "infinite wisdom," you still didn't answer my question.
