  • Net weight?

Would l be wrong in thinking this could be a net possible net weight?

Look at this old post (think original by CMD, and reposted by Chase):
    #1 Fishing Weights, Plummets?

There’s an illustration w/in thread of lotsa different weights, and one has hole in it.

I have what I call a “notched” weight (flattish, roundish/ovalish stone with lil’ corresponding chunks taken out both sides). I think it’s the most common type weight found. But, assuming it is a weight, was it used as a single line sinker, or to hold down a net? (I think woulda found more than just one if was part of a group tied to a net....but, I dunno...)

O, p.s. CMD posted same great illustration recently first week November! (Duh....Celia behind on up-take!)

Yes I just viewed it very good information and illustrations , I found this in the creek so it would be unlikely to find multiples

Was Qing own find, which unfortunately, did not find in creek (but did find near “magic-poop” chicken coop, so maybe is ancient weight!)

Found in river here in Ohio l have found some fossilized corals in same area, but if there were piddock present millions of years ago and the hole was board then wouldn’t it be completely eroded by now

The hole and stone are natural but still cool. I pick them up. These are all 100% natural:
