  • Hand Mall or Just A Good Fit and My Imagination?

This is my first post here so please be patient. I found this item near the eroded base of a buffalo jump near Lander, WY, several years ago. I found many bone shards throughout the rock and dirt debris. There were a variety of different pieces implying the type of bone that was the source, i.e., flat, round cross-section, etc. All appeared and felt quite old. I found no complete bones or teeth suggesting that the bison were completely utilized (smashed for marrow, brains, etc.). I could imagine a rock/hand mall being used to do the work. The rounded base end as well "edged" end opposite appear to be chipped (impact?). The stone fits nicely in my pudgy hand with reliefs for aiding a tight grip. Not a geologist by any stretch but was told it looked like basalt (?). Thank you in advance for your time and effort. Thoughts or just my imagination again?
