You guy's aren't going to believe this! I still can't believe it, but I found a Celt!
Today I turn 16, so I wanted to go on an arrowhead hunt. Me and my dad started to hunt a creek not to far from here, and I found a scraper. We had to leave because even with bug spray, the mosquitoes were unbearable. We went to plan b: Search the Scioto river. The Scioto river was part of an important trail leading up to Sandusky Ohio.
We immediately started finding chert, but nothing that looked like an artifact. I saw what looked like a small river pebble stuck in a bank and went to investigate. "Watch it be a Celt", I said sarcastically to my dad. When I pulled it out and saw the polished bit, I about had a stroke. There was a perfect Celt! I couldn't and still can't believe it! It appears to be made out of river rock, and shows sign of use. It is worn smooth and shiny near the edge. We came home after that, but we're going back Thursday. I know we are going to find something good! Out in the river about 30 feet from the bank is a gravel bar. It was to deep, and the current was to strong to swim, but I swear I saw a rock with a notch in it. When the water level goes down, I'll swim out to it. But until then, I am just amazed by this Celt!
