  • Had a big day. 10-26-18

Well the morning hint I'm the woodland creek didn't turn up anything but I jumped 5 deer and got some exercise. The afternoon hunt was a different story... Giant quartzite biface, big quartzite adze, and two points..one of them is a killer! The quartzite pieces came from a freshly turned and rowed out field just a half a mile down the road. The two points came from the field behind my house. Ill get some cleanup pics of the quartzite pieces in a bit but here they are for now. Click image for larger version

Thanks, Ethan! Funny story..I was within two feet of the adze, in the same row that it was in, and missed it. It wasn't until I came back thru a second time, just two rows over from it, that I spotted it. When I went to pick it up, I looked to my left and noticed my previous footsteps. Yeah, I think we all know what my entry will be next month.

Thanks, Tam! The pink one is actually heat treated Burlington chert. I like it too, even though its a little beat up. Idk about perfect but its perfect to me. I'm sure it would grade pretty high.

Thank you. I was hunting with a buddy and he reached down to pick up a flake when I spotted it about three feet in front of him. He didn't even notice it until I pointed it out, he couldn't believe it. If he hadn't stopped to pick up that flake we would probably have walked right past it or stepped on it, lol. He doesn't have the eye yet.

Thanks, Jay! Had a couple more finds today but these were the best of the bunch. It literally took all day to make these finds. I started with an unsuccessful morning hunt, 730-1130 in the woods. Came home for a bit and went back out and hunted a couple fields from 2-7. It was an epic hunt.

Thanks, Ron! It was a day I won't soon forget, mostly because of the finds but also because my legs and feet are killing me.

Couple cleanup pics of the adze and monster biface. Just look at that use wear on the adze, so smooth it is like glass. I hope to find the rest of it soon. The big biface has alot of use wear along one of the blade edges, probably saw use as a chopper on that side. Click image for larger version

Thanks, Josh.they don't get much better than that. I was thinking its a mehlville but I'd like to see what your opinion is.

Ok, that was the second type that I had in mind. Looking at the typology differences, I think that's a good call.
