No it doesnt appear to have any basal grinding

Hi Benji. It's a super dandy point you found. Congratulations. I've found lots of BS points but none as large as this one. From what I know this point is about as large as they get. It appears to have never been re-sharpened as BS points when sharpened take on the more beveled appearance. The guy that lost this knife must have experienced a big disappointment. Your point also is fairly thin for a point that size. A beautiful point for sure. Just wondering if the base and halfting areas are ground? Most of them are but not all. The BS was used as points for knives and darts. This one obviously was a knife.

Thanks for the information sailorjoe....i do not see any indication of basal grinding on this point.....the edges around all of the base feel sharp to me, down to the midsection, throughout

Maybe it was lost before he got a chance to put on the finishing touches. It looks "brand new" to me as there appears to be no use on the edges. Yep, you got yourself a dandy point.
