The past several hunts I have had my doubts to the point I almost don't go. I decided to check the riverbank today and not mess with the leaves. I saw a leaf poking out of the bank that was a little more solid than a leaf. This is the nicest river bank find of my collection. I saw the flaking and instantly thought it was really early. If it's a nodena it's only 400-600 years old and also the online sources do not include WV in them. I am still happy with it even if it isn't as old as I thought. It blows my mind that someone made this with a rock and some bone

I would have had an insitu but I got video of it. Message me your email if you would like to see the footage. I wish I could post them on here but I don't know how or if it's even possible

That is a beauty Luke thanks for sharing . I think that is a Lerma not a Nodena. Just my opinion.

Man what an age difference that makes. I have never found a bi pointed anything so nodena was my only guess. I looked it up but I still can't tell the difference between the two. I'll take your wisdom over my guess any day. Thanks Hoss

I've flipped many dovetail leaves haha. This was a leaf until I touched it.

Hey Mike, That is a well made and beautiful blade. Being that it was found in West Virginia could it be a Guilford-Round Base? The Guilford-Round Base is middle Archaic. Location...Location...Location

Hi LCW. That is an outstanding point. A double wow beauty for sure. I haven't checked it out at my sources as to making a good ID but off the top of my head it certainly has a Lerma look about it. That's what I would call when first found before checking it out more thoroughly.
