  • Tube Bannerstone

A friend was kind enough to give me a bannerstone that he acquired. It was recently found in a farmer's field in Dover Township, Kent County, Ontario; near Mitchell's Bay.

It is 5.7 cm in length and 2.9 cm in width.

There is a slightly flattened side which can be seen in image three.

It is on Huronian banded slate.

I would classify it as being a 'Tube Bannerstone'; Archaic 9,000 to 3,000 B.P.

              That’s really frickin cool man...
live never found anything like that...is it a bead or a net weight or what? I don’t know what a “banner stone” means. I know what having a “banner day” means...but I suspicion it’s different...

Thanks everyone. My bud and I have known each other since high school. We both walk the fields and collect. Interestingly, he found a tube bannerstone in a field in Kent County, Ontario about twenty years ago. It is very similar to mine, but a tad larger. He decided that I should also have one. It is without question one of the most amazing gifts I have received in my life.
