  • A pretty scraper and tiny point

My son was doing some "walk digging" as he calls it.. basically walking through the dirt already dug. We had a rain and it brought this to the Walk Digger...a beautiful scraper. Beautiful lithic.. i found a little point also, but in the garden. I think KRF. Middle of montana.

Chad, you could charge big bucks to let people play in your dirt.

Hi Chad, Still finding some great tools! Not KRF, but an exceptional quality chalcedony or agate. Nice end scraper. If they used that material for tools, sooner or later you will find a nice point made from it! Go get em!!!

Hey Chad, That teardrop end-scraper is awesome. I like the point too but the scraper has a WOW factor. That lithic material (Probably Chalcedony) reminds me of what Jay is finding in Rhode Island.

I agree. Do you think the point is KRF? It has a bluish bullseye in it that doesnt show up in the pics, (patina?).

Hey Chad, I couldn't be sure of the material even if I had it in hand. Some of these materials are so close to one another in appearance. I think that only the scientists with their high tech gadgets can tell for sure.

I think the little point is chalcedony also. Being thick retards the light shining through. And being thick means the piece they were working on wasn't very large, so it could be from a cobble. Possibly a glacial cobble found along the creek somewhere.

I don’t believe the point is KRF either. The scraper kind of looked like it, but I thought too yellow. KRF can be pale, but I never thought it looked yellow. Both very nice.

Ps, I would have guessed the scraper to be amber.
